As opposed to using natural flint pebbles, ceramic grinding media can be utilized in higher purity grinding. Grind time is also lower than the time needed when using natural pebble grinding media. Ceramic media allow for easy clean up and fast color composition changes since they have nonporous characteristics.
When choosing your ceramic grinding media, you have multiple options. We will examine a few of those choices here, but for an in-depth consultation and recommendation, please do not hesitate to contact us today. We would be happy to guide you to the appropriate choice for your needs, whether it turns out to be ceramic balls grinding or Soda Lime glass or whatever is best recommended for your particular endeavor.
Amongst our various offerings in grinding media, ceramic options include:
Yttria Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystals are an expensive option, but have an excellent record of remaining tough and stabilized. This is due to the fine microstructure of the ceramic balls. Grinding with YTZP means having a smooth media surface, high fracture toughness, and superb wear resistance of the grinding media. Ceramic structure of this particular size reduction media has very low porosity due to its denser microstructure. Mill linings experience less wear from the composition of YTZP. The shape and composition also result in uniform movement of both the product and the YTZP as it is grinded in the mill.
