How We Got Started
Norstone began in 1982, when Samuel E. Firestone started a home-based manufacturer’s rep agency called S.E. Firestone Associates at age 55. Over more than four decades, that small agency grew into Norstone, Inc., a supplier of grinding media, dispersing and mixing blades, tanks, processing equipment, and custom parts to manufacturers, processors, and laboratories around the world. The company has stayed in the family throughout that growth, passing from Sam to his daughter Daniyel, and now to Daniyel’s daughter Molly and her husband Chris.

We’re not just order takers, and we’re not paid consultants either. We make suggestions based on the technical knowledge we’ve built up over decades, not formal recommendations. Much of that knowledge comes from getting hands-on: we visit customers directly, or meet them at a supplier’s site during testing, rather than asking them to come to us. We carry a large selection of grinding media brands across budget tiers, including options that match what a customer already uses, and we offer price-conscious choices for tight budgets alongside more sophisticated controls for customers who want them. When you call with a question, you’ll get a callback and a real answer, not a queue.

We also manufacture our own branded products, including Polyblade®, Norblade®, TRAPolene, and Blade Guardian.

Norstone, Inc. is headquartered at 316 W. Poplar St., Suite 100, Norristown, PA 19401. In 2023, we purchased an 8,300 square foot building in Norristown for office, shipping, and warehousing space, which also lets us offer media screening and washing services. While our roots are in Pennsylvania, our customers aren’t. Norstone ships internationally, with the United States, Canada, and Mexico as our primary markets and customers on every continent except Antarctica. You won’t need to visit us. We come to you, or we meet you at a supplier’s site during testing.
