SILICAS:
Silicas are one of the oldest materials for use as a grinding media. They are still used where low viscosity, low temperatures, low wear rates on equipment and lower costs are required. They do not last as long in many grinding operations and can wear quickly or do a poor job if the match to viscosity and density is not correct. Flint Pebbles and Steatite would be an exception in that they last a long time similar to alumina medias but lower in density.
